as someone who has been 95% vegetarian for almost two years now (hell, this morning i threw away a new purchase of kashi mighty bites because the people-shaped cereal was too disturbing to eat - worst.product.design.ever), i am particularly struggling with the idea of having to euthanize my terminally-ill dog. why is it okay to perform a procedure (in the name of “undue suffering”) on an animal when it’s not legal on a human? who gives me the power to stop the beating heart of a living creature? all for the small fee of several hundred dollars.

i think what it comes down to is that, even though i want to end her suffering, i don’t want to be the one to have to make this decision. she is my best friend.
